“Keep Engaging Your True Nature”

This is one of four new pieces in a series I recently finished. I approached these pieces with a similar process as I did with my Daily Biscuits, where I limited my time I would spend on them, and had the intent of allowing them to be “done”, even though I could have kept working on them. And in that process, I created four pieces that capture a certain energy that can sometimes be lost in other pieces that I work longer on. It measures 18″ x 24″ x 1.5″ and is a “cradled” wooden panel. You can see pictures of what that means in the slideshow below. “A Little Shift In Time And Space” – first finished painting in a series of four

I recently began working on four paintings with a similar theme. A while back I made a little image in photoshop where I took a design I made with ink on paper, and also a portion of a painting, and I laid the painting image underneath the negative of the design I made, so that instead of the ink, it was the painting as the “background”. So I’ve created four “backgrounds” on wooden panels, and have painted in white a design over top of it. This is the first one I’ve finished. The piece is acrylic on a 1.5″ cradled wooden panel 19 3/4″ x 19 3/4″. The sides of the piece and back are stained, and the whole piece is coated in several layers of polyurethane. Also there’s some thin layers of gold paint in the piece as well. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but you can see some of it in a few of the detail photos.
